Immunity-Support Diet
what actually changes on the plate.
Nothing boosts immunity, and that is worth saying plainly
An immune system is not a muscle that can be pushed higher by a drink or a powder. What nutrition can do is remove the deficiencies and habits that leave it working below par.
Anyone selling an immunity booster is selling a claim no food can support. What is real is unglamorous: sleep, protein, iron, vitamin D, zinc, B12 and enough vegetables and fruit.
The deficiencies that actually show up here
Vitamin D is low in a large share of urban Indians, including people who spend all day indoors in Hyderabad's sunshine. Low iron and B12 are common, particularly in vegetarian households and in menstruating women.
These are worth testing rather than guessing, because the tiredness and frequent infections people blame on 'low immunity' often trace back to exactly these.
Protein is the part most Indian diets miss
Antibodies and immune cells are built from protein, and most vegetarian Indian meals fall short of what an adult needs. Dal, curd, paneer, sprouts, eggs, fish and chicken are ordinary answers, and quantity is the issue rather than variety.
Recovering from illness or surgery raises the requirement further, which is when the shortfall shows most clearly.
Frequent illness in children and older adults
Children who fall ill repeatedly are often low in iron, and older adults who eat little are often short of protein and several micronutrients. Both respond better to correcting the actual gap than to a general tonic.
Repeated or unusual infections need medical assessment. Nutrition supports recovery; it is not a diagnosis.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What people ask
about this diet.
01Which foods boost immunity?+
None boost it. Correcting deficiencies — protein, iron, vitamin D, B12, zinc — and sleeping properly remove the things that hold it back, which is a more honest way to describe what food can do.
02Should I take a vitamin C or zinc supplement daily?+
Only if there is a reason to. Excess of some micronutrients causes harm, and routine high-dose supplementation is not a substitute for the basics.
03Is kadha or a herbal mix useful?+
As a warm drink, it is harmless for most people. It is not protection against infection, and some herbal preparations interact with medicines.
04My child falls sick often. What should I check?+
Iron status, vitamin D, sleep and overall food intake are the usual places to look, alongside a paediatrician's assessment for anything repeated or severe.
Nutrition supports normal health but does not prevent or treat infection. Persistent symptoms require medical assessment.
